Our Deepest Condolences to Mary Cochet and the family on the passing of her husband Bill Cochet Bill has been an active member of the Club since it’s early days of existence. Mary and Bill have been hosting the Pender Harbor Food Bank run and BBQ at their home every year. The family are holding a Celebration of Life on June 9th, 2022 and have requested the Car Club save the day for them. We will have a run for Bill to the Pender Harbor Legion to honor Bill. We will be leaving Sechelt to arrive at the Legion for 12:00 noon. Time schedule will follow closer to the date….
The Club’s first General meeting will be on March 15th, 2022 at 7:00pm at the Davis Bay Community Hall. We welcome all members old and new to attend and find out what is happening this 2022-23 year. It has been a long 2 years since we have been able to use the hall and to have gatherings so hopefully a good number of members are ready to dust themselves off and get going!
The Executive and Directors are requesting the membership come out and get active in some capacity. We have received notification from Deb Jackson that she has retired from her Position as SLEEPY HOLLOW REGISTRAR. Our heartfelt thanks to Deb for all your years of participation and diligent work. Deb will be missed beyond words but after so many wonderful years with Deb we have to say good-bye….! Deb and Scott have become involved with the ownership of LITTLE BAY RESORT at Pender Harbor so she is tasked daily with jobs there. That being said, Deb has said she will wo up to help us out!! Deb has said she will work with the person taking over her position of Registrar to make the transition.
The Club also requires an ACTIVITIES PERSON who can organize Club activities and outings. This is as simple as letting members know where and when to meet for coffee or a place to meet for lunch on a day and time. Maybe a trip off coast?
If we wish to have a successful year, Rod Run and Sleepy Hollow Show n Shine 2022 we must have some committed members step up to help out!
The Executive and Directors have registered the Car Club into the Light Parade to take place on December 11th 2021. Richard Frappier has donated his truck with a flat bed and lights. We have a couple of blow-ups and a tree which should be quite colourful. Alan and Evelyn Hemstreet have donated their covered carport at 5595 SC Hwy. Anyone interested in helping to decorate can meet at 2:00 pm on the 11th of Dec at Hemstreets. The float is to be at Hackett Park at 5:15 pm. The parade will set off at 5:45 pm.
Ken and Dianne would like to take this opportunity to wish all members the Best of the Christmas Season and wishing you all A Very Happy New Year. It has been another testy year this 2021 and we can only hope for a brighter year in 2022. Stay well and stay bright as we all move on to brighter days!

Subject: drive bye Totem Sept 23
Good morning Ken
Please send a huge thank you to all the drivers and their amazing cars for coming bye Totem lodge last night.
I’m not sure if everyone could see us in Totem lodge, but we were all lined up two rows deep in the dining room and at their bedroom windows.
Everyone was so happy and we are very much looking forward to see you guys again next year when the weather gets better.
All our best,
Totem Lodge Residents-
Well!! What is Summer without the annual Cochet’s Food Bank Run? It is happening rather quickly so we hope as many as possible are able to attend. Mary and Bill would like us to come on Sunday July 18th 2021.
We will muster at Chatalech High School at 10:30 am
At 10:40 we will cruise to 12555 Warnock Road Madeira Park
Please bring a Food Bank item or a cash donation (which is preferred) , a share dish of your choice, a chair, a plate, cutlery, and your beverages. The club will look after the meat that Mary chooses to chef up for us.
I am sure the competitive members will get into some of the games that will be there! If you have a game you would like to share please bring it along.
We normally collect $5.00 per vehicle to add to the donation box….
See you at Cochet’s and Thank you Mary and Bill….
The Gibsons Legion have extended an invitation to the Club to have a Show n Shine at the the Gibsons Legion on July 25th 2021. The burgers and beer at 12:30…the beer is not permitted outdoors so after your lunch the show n shine at 1:15 outside. The burger and beer for just $10.00 !! A steal of a deal!! These times are just a guideline. You can lunch whenever you like! The times are 12:30 to 4:00 pm. The Legion has also invited members to partake in the meat draw that commences at 4:00. The burger and beer for just $10.00!! A steal of a deal!
For those who would like to cruise down as a group you could meet at Chatalech High School and depart at 12:00. Unfortunately Ken and I have a previous commitment so are not able to attend. I am sure you can all handle it! LOL LOL
It has been a very long time since we have been able to gather and have a visit so enjoy the day!
Thank you to Garry Singbeil and Wilma Jones of the Legion for this activity.
This is the picture of the shirt Alan Hemstreet has designed for the 2021 Car Cruise on August 6th. Please contact Alan at 606-741-1103(c) or 604 -885-6520(h). Leave your sizes and numbers of shirts you want along with your name and contact phone number. Alan will look after the ordering and distribution of the shirts.
The price of the shirts is $30.00. Our costs have gone up substantially so the price reflects the increase of production. We are sure you will enjoy wearing them.
Please order ASAP so the process can happen without hic-cups.
Thank you Alan and Evelyn for doing this on our behalf!
Just a reminder of the General meeting on July 20th @ 7:00 pm at the Davis Bay Hall.
For those members heading to Micheal Labonte’s BBQ on the 15th we will marshall at the Chatalech Secondary School parking lot and cruise to Pender Harbor. Meet time is 12:00 and cruise out at 12:15. Hope we get a nice day for the outing…
Good day everyone….
We are hoping all members and friends are doing well. It has been a very long year plus some for us to gather as a club. Hoping it will not be long now before we can catch up with each other ❤
At the Executive meeting on May 20th 2021 there was a full slate of topics to be discussed and here are the points to be shared at this time. Obviously the biggest issue is to get up and running again under the Covid regulations.
The first item was to discuss whether we could have a Car Show or not. Steve Holland motioned to cancel the 2021 Show seconded by Larry Knowles. The motion was carried unanimously. The reasons for this is that it is just too late in the season to think we could pull it off. The merchants of the Coast have been huge supporters of the Club and the Car Show every year. Due to the loss of trade for them during Covid it was felt we could not approach the majority of the Merchants asking for donations when they have struggled for over a year trying to keep afloat. On the upside….we propose to have an end of COVID-19 APPRECIATION ROD RUN CRUISE on Friday August 6th 2021…..Details to follow…..
We also discussed COCHET’S FOOD BANK RUN AND BBQ (When restrictions are lifted)
-we will see if the Silent Auction at Louis Vignal’s is a possibility this summer as well.
We have scheduled Tuesday night Meet and Greets at Tsainko Mall at 6:00. Just pull in where there is not too much traffic. Lordco have said to use their parking after 6:00 pm.
Things are looking good to have a general meeting soon….stay tuned!
The Coasters are now registered for the Canada Day Parade on July 1st 2021. Much the same as last year…we will send out instructions and information as soon as we receive it from their committee.
We hope to see you all real soon…thank you for being so patient…
Ken Begg and the Executive
