Update March 18, 2021

Hi just an update on what I have heard from the District of Sechelt.  They are not issuing any “special event permits” yet due to Covid-19. Rules.  We know things are loosening up but our hands are tied.  We need at least 3 months to get everything organized  to have a show.  We can’t even have a meeting to get the ball rolling before that.  We keep everybody informed as to what we are doing.  Thanks. Ken.

A message from Ken Begg

To all members of the Coasters Car Club

Just a note to let you know what is or is not happening.

We have tried a couple of times now to have an Executive meeting but the Government and the Health officials have said only “Critical Services” can be held at this time.  I have also been in contact with the District of Sechelt and their office is not issuing any Special Event Permits at this time.  They too are waiting for restrictions to be lifted or eased from Victoria.

When the restrictions have been lifted we will have a meeting to see if we have enough time to put together a show in 2021 or not.  If you have any questions or ideas on what you would like to see happen and offer your services to make them happen please e-mail Dianne Allen (Secretary and Activities Person)

dnallen6518@gmail.com     Your input is most welcomed.

In deepest Sympathy

It is with Our Deepest Sympathy we announce the passing of Darlene Vignal, wife of Louis Vignal of Sechelt.  Louis and Darlene have been long standing members of the Coasters Car Club.  As club members know, Louis was instrumental in creating Sleepy Hollow.  Darlene battled hard with her illnesses and sadly she succumbed on March 1st,  2021.  Darlene will be sadly missed by all who knew her.  Our condolences to Louis, Louis Jr, Lisa and families.

Free Ford F150

We have a old Ford F150 pickup truck that we would like to offer to any of your club members who may be looking for parts etc. This would be of no charge simply your cost to tow away. The truck has been sitting since 2004 and was aprox 10 years old at the time. If anyone is interested I have pictures or can arrange to have you come over to see it. The vehicle is in Sechelt.

Regarding Sunshine Coast Mustangers Cruise In

This from Bill Stevenson:

Good morning SCM,

Well, it looks like the “fickle finger of weather fate” is moving in tomorrow with a 100% chance of rain for our area. It is very frustrating when an event we have been anticipating does not come to fruition because of the weather, especially when it is a charity event.

However, we all realize the necessity rain plays in our community and will hope that as it is coming, that it will help to replenish our critical potable water supply. It will also give our gardens, forests and the creatures who inhabit our area, some relief from the heat we have been enduring.

I wish the A&W much success in their “Burgers to Beat MS” event tomorrow. If you are in the area of either the Sechelt or Gibsons A&W, I hope you will give a thought to helping them in this most worthy cause, by making a purchase or donation to help them out.

Looking ahead to next Thursday the 27th, it is at this time looking like a sunny day is forecast. With that in mind, I hope to see you back at the Sechelt Tims at 7:00 PM for our last C3 (Cars, Coffee and Conversation) event this August.

If for some unforeseen reason, the weather tomorrow turns into a non rain day, then I will be pleased to see you at the Sechelt A&W from 5 to 7 PM.

Thanks everyone.

Bill

Sleepy Hollow 2020 Tee Shirts

Coasters,

Al Hemstreet has made arrangements to have Coasters Car Club T shirts for this year, the year of Covid19, made available for sale to the members.

Al Hemstreet reports that tee shirt orders have been coming in to him, and that he will continue to accept tee shirt orders until Saturday, August 8th.

As below, to order tee shirts please text Al at 604.741.1103, specifying the quantity and the size(s) that you wish to order.

Here is the image on the tee shirts:

He comments that the tee shirts are done with the contrast stitch which he likes because they don’t pill and fit a little bigger.

To order tee shirts please text Al at 604.741.1103, specifying the quantity and the size(s) that you wish to order. The cost is expected to be about $25 per tee shirt.

James Taylor,

Club Secretary

The T shirts will be available in sizes from small to 4xxxxl – please specify.  And the cost is expected to be about $25 per T shirt.

Sleepy Hollow Consolation run

COASTERS CAR CLUB

In light of the cancellation of our Sleepy Hollow 2020 it has been suggested at the general meeting we have a cruise from Chatalech High School to the Halfmoon Bay Fire Hall and back again.

We will assemble at Chatalech High School  on August 7th 2020 at 6:30 pm ready to depart at 6:45 pm.  It would be nice if all  or as many as possible members could participate on this cruise.

The route is…leave the High School …Turn right onto Cowrie St  to Derby Rd….Follow Derby to Norwestbay Rd..Turn left on Norwestbay Rd to the lights on Hwy 101 ..Follow 101 to Redroofs Rd.  Take Redroofs to the Firehall and turn around at the Hall.  Return to Sechelt and disperse or go to your favourite watering hole…LOL LOL

A reminder that the silent auction we had thought about having at Louis and Darlene Vignal’s has been cancelled due to Covid.  We will look forward to next year!
