Rod Run

This family event starts on Friday with cars registering at Hackett Park from 1:00 PM until 5:30 PM for the Rod Run to Halfmoon Bay. At the park, there will be a concession stand selling food and beverages. Prior to the Rod Run, there will be a free corn roast for the participants. This gives everyone a chance to meet and greet local car club members and out of town guests. The 30 km Rod Run cruise starts at 6:15 PM and is lead by our local RCMP with 450+ classic cars winding their way through 3-4000 spectators that line the highway from Sechelt to the Halfmoon Bay Fire Hall. Participants are always amazed at the warm welcome and enthusiasm by the cheering crowds that gather alongside the roadway. The spectators make signs, dress in costumes and place couches/ lawn chairs in their driveways. You also see a number of barbecues and house parties in full swing. See the You Tube Video of the Rod Run.

The Rod Run is finished upon the return trip to Sechelt. Participants can go to A&W, eat at local restaurants and pubs, or head to their accommodations and rest-up for Saturday events. Or why not join us for a burger, fries and a drink at the Blue Ocean Golf course in Sechelt after the rod run?

Burnouts are ZERO tolerance during the Rod Run. Anyone caught doing burnouts will have all weekend privileges revoked immediately and there will be NO refund. There are many families that gather alongside the road and for their safety we cannot risk any liability brought on by a few simple minded folks who insist on doing the burnouts. The liability is the responsibility of the individual and not the Coasters Car Club. We do not want anyone to get hurt, injured or maybe even killed by someone´s negligence. If you wish to do burnouts, the Sunshine Coast Drag Racing Association hosts the Drag Races on Sunday and you can do all the burnouts you want in a safe and controlled location. Please be advised, the RCMP will take action against the individual and potentially cancel future Rod Runs if we do not take measures to enforce our zero tolerance policy for burnouts. Your cooperation is appreciated.
